Call for volunteers for the Marshall Scholarship Outreach & Diversity Committee

The Marshall Scholarship Outreach & Diversity Committee has openings for two alumni volunteers to serve a 3-year term beginning in January 2021. One of the members should be serving, or have recently served, on a regional reading or selection committee.

We seek individuals who will enhance committee diversity (e.g., in terms of gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, age, academic background, profession, and/or geographic location) and bring valuable perspectives to our work. Volunteers must commit to participating in four 1-hour meetings per year (held via video/teleconference in February, May, August, and December) throughout their term of service.

Interested parties should submit a brief letter of interest via email to the ODC Chair, Margot Singer (margotsinger63@gmail.com), articulating the reasons for their interest and the perspective(s) and experience they will bring to the committee. The ODC will vote on candidates in the December 2020 meeting.

The mission of the ODC--which is made up of volunteers representing the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission (MACC), the UK Embassy, the Association of Marshall Scholars (AMS), regional reading and selection committee members, and current Marshall Scholars—is to help support the coordination of efforts to strengthen the gender, racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of the Marshall Scholar classes through initiatives targeting university recruitment, scholar selection, data-gathering and assessment, publicity, and outreach.
